Sweet Sweet Lies make sweet music at Moles! 13th April, 2010

A highlighted gig this month is Sweet Sweet Lies on the 15th April. Sweet Sweet Lies are grey-scale Mumford-esque folksters who have already made a big name for themselves in their native Brighton, and are looking to break through with their debut single ‘Overrated Girlfriend / The Day I Change’, out on 19th April on Dumb Angel. They have recently recorded a Stone Roses cover which created much appraisal from the likes of the NME and Radio 6.

Sweet Sweet Lies are singer-songwriters and guitarists Dominic VonTrapp and Michael Hayes, ably assisted by Ken Box (piano), Matt Sparkes (bass), Toby Horton (drums) and Kris Jones (trumpet). Intelligent and out of the ordinary- Sweet Sweet Lies combine urgent electro acoustic instrumental with witty, ironic and bittersweet vocals. They are a rock band at heart but with a strong blackhearted Country and Brighton?s own retro rockabilly scene influencing them the end result is far from just a rock band!

Having been an instant hit locally, word has spread across the country resulting in festival offers from Glastonbury, The Isle Of Wight Festival, The Secret Garden, Manchester?s In The City, Brighton?s The Great Escape and even The Big Chill so expect to see these guys climbing up the bills this summer!

It?s time for the rest of us to fall for Sweet Sweet Lies, and those silver-tongued rogues. We look forward to an eventful performance!
