It’s been a busy year here at Moles and we are ready for it to become even busier. This week we are celebrating our 35th anniversary and to commend this feat we have some of the best live acts and DJs coming to our basement this week.. After gaining vast popularity with nearly one million views on youtube, Misty Miller brings her electric live act to Moles on Thursday, for absolutely free. Friday we have a stellar line-up with the amazing Dizraeli and the Small Gods followed by Canadian Radio One DJ B-TRAITS. Saturday is when things climax as we have Simian Mobile Disco AND Erol Alkan playing on the same bill till the very early hours. Not to be missed.
Goldheart Assembly kick off the week this Wednesday, having previously supported Band of Horses and currently being played on BBC6, catch the Londoners on their steady rise. Thursday we have free music from local legends The Rhubarbs and the awesome Gramotones who are currently supporting Steve Cradock on tour (seriously not to be missed). Friday is when things go into meltdown as we have Mumford & sons meets the Dead Weather band Brother & Bones, closely followed by one of the hottest DJs around Paul Woolford who had the massive summer hit with ‘Untitled’. We round the week of with local lads Coasts who brought us the awesome song ‘Oceans’, and to cap it all off we have probably one of the most hyped about acts, Ejeca coming to the Moles basement.
Introducing a brand new night at the Moles Gin Mill…
The finest swing night you’ll find this side of the Atlantic! With the bee’s knees of live bands, DJs and swing dancers.
“The Electric Swing Circus burst out of Birmingham in 2011 to take up residency of the Hot Club De Swing, and Electro Swing Club UK wide. Their stunning live performance has earned them airtime on the BBC big screen nationwide and the coveted title of BEST LIVE ACT in the ElectroSwing Peoples Favourite Awards 2011.
Ladies and Gentlemen, hold onto your hats. The circus is coming to town.”
The hoedown don’t stop there, we have the big cheese himself Dr Octavius JiveFish PhDJ, playing exceptional records through the moles gramophones.
Over the past 35 years Moles has seen some of the biggest acts in the UK grace the basement and here are some incredible shots back in 1983 of The Smiths playing to just a handful of people at the time. You can even see what the alcoves and stage used to look like. Credit goes to Martin Whitehead for taking the photos and A Scene In-Between for putting them up. Incredible.
